Formed on 18 July 2011 by the signing of the Charter for the Mediation of Tourism and Travel (MTV), this mediation was initiated by the National Union of Travel Agencies (SNAV), the Syndicat of Tour Operating Compagnies (SETO ) And the National Federation of Commercial Aviation (FNAM), has been operational since 1 January 2012. It is joinedby many other organisations and companies (Syndicat des Compagnies Aériennes Autonomes (SCARA), EasyJet, Association of French Aéroports…) thus confirming the credibility of the mediation and its mechanism.

THE MEDIATOR

Mr Jean-Pierre Teyssier was appointed Mediator at the first General Assembly of the Association of Tourism and Travel Mediation which took place on 12 December 2011.

Graduate of the Ecole Nationale de l’Administration (ENA), Jean-Pierre Teyssier has held many positions of responsibility in the public and private sectors. In particular, he was President of France-Loto, President of the National Audiovisual Institute, then Chief Advisor in Extraordinary Service at the Court of Auditors.

In 1999, he was appointed by the advertising and media industry in France as a high-ranking independent personality to chair the Advertising Verification Bureau, now the Professional Advertising Regulatory Authority (ARPP), which he presided until 2010. From 2005 to 2009 he was also President of the European Alliance for Ethics in Advertising – AEEP. Today, he teaches at Sciences-Po Paris the professional regulation

WHO CAN REQUEST?

A consumer (or an association representing him) having a dispute with a travel agency, a tour operator, an airline, amusement park, airport…  signing the Charter of Mediation.

The Mediator may also intervene in disputes concerning a company which is not a signatory to the Charter but which would accept the principle of mediation for the file concerned.

CONDITIONS FOR RECEIVABILITY 

The request of the mediator can only be done:

    • after requesting the service managing the after-sales. 
    • in case of a negative response or no response after 60 days.
